WUIWATCH and Open Data and Reuse

Past February a brief lecture on wuiwatch project was performed in this internal meeting as result of the official invitation by the Ministry of Justice of Spain. wuiwatch project was presented as an example of using and re-using open data for the capitalization of experience in Civil Protection for the Administrations in Europe, particularly the database of fire events affecting WUI areas.

Participation in the Forest Fire Management Responsibles Workshop in Balearic Islands. Mallorca, Spain.

wuiwatch30/07/2015. A workshop was organised by the Regional Government of Balearic Islands aimed at gathering regional local Authorities, protection bodies and stakeholders and present facts and discuss over the main issues regarding risk in inhabited fire-prone areas in Balearic Islands. WUIWATCH project coordinator was invited by organizers to present and explain the main factors regarding risk and current initiatives for fire prevention affecting communities.

Project Kick-Off Meeting

meteorología20/01/2015. wuiwatch project celebrated the official Kick-Off Meeting together with other funded projects in the premises of the EC ECHO in Brussels the past 20th of January 2015. Project coordinator David Caballero and a representative from Pau Costa Foundation attended the meeting, networked with other projects and interacted with project's desk officers. EC ECHO offered us the opportunity of visiting the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) and know something more in detail the mechanisms and tools for humaniarian and emergency response.
